How does an individual navigate through the complexities of race, culture, gender identity, and equal rights? From the heartbeat of life that we all share to the a-rhythmic noise of conflict, racial divide, and miscommunication, Lied Center for Performing Arts presents “Passing it Forward: The American Dream” on Saturday, April 27th.
“Passing it Forward: The American Dream” explores the rich and complicated history of our country. The performance encourages the audience to reflect on the role of immigration in creating the huge diversity of cultures that make up our American heritage. Through historical traditions and new works of tap dance set to a diversified musical score of spoken-word poetry, hip-hop, jazz, and American classics, Tapestry Dance Company sets a rhythm of communication, hope and healing is set.
The performance delves into our country's challenges, ranging from the Civil Rights Movement to past and present day treatment of refugees and immigrants. This inspiring and timely story presents the warp and weft of culture that forms the fabric of our American identity. This production is best for general audiences grades 3 and up.
Tickets are at $12 for regular admission and $6 for students or youth. You may purchase your tickets online via https://tickets.liedcenter.org. We encourage you to bring your friends and family to see this touching production!
