Celebrate the Revolutionary Work of Willa Cather with a Special Dinner Event
Join the Willa Cather Archive and Community Crops for a celebratory feast marking the 100th anniversary of the publication of My Ántonia by Willa Cather. Sample diverse dishes from local Lincoln restaurants, enjoy the nearby community garden, and explore passages from My Ántonia translated into multiple languages. The event will occur at Peter Pan Park on September 21st.
This celebration will bring together local gardeners from Community Crops and Cather, highlighting the diversity that exists within Nebraska’s capitol. Family-style seating will be offered, using food as the vehicle through which people learn about each other and the world around them.
The purpose is not only to promote the study of Cather’s life and works within the larger community, but also to highlight the continued relevance of My Ántonia as a story that confronts contemporary issues, including immigration, religious difference, gender, class and environmental preservation.
Dinner offerings will be provided by El Chaparro, Habibi Kabob & Shawarma, and Vung Tau Pho Grill. While you eat, enjoy live music by local Lincoln band The Nancy Marshall trio.
Admission to the dinner is $5 for adults and free for children. Join neighbors and friends at this event on Friday, September 21st at 5:00 p.m.!
